WEIGHT TRAINING



Syllabus

Have you ever wanted to learn how to lift weights? Do you really know how to lift weights and spot safely? Weight training class will teach you how to lift with proper form and you’ll have a program that charts the workouts for you. This class will give you the confidence to start working out on your own. 


Course Level and Description:

Grades 10-12

Quarter course .25 Credit

.50 PE Elective credits needed to graduate

This class gives you the knowledge and training to use weights in a safe way

The course’s main objective is to give students (who are new to weight training))  the know-how and confidence to continue and advance their knowledge in weight training as a lifetime activity


Graduation Standards for course:

G MOVEMENT/MOTOR SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  •    G2- Demonstrate a variety of specialized movement skills specific to activity.


H PHYSICAL FITNESS ACTIVITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  •    H1- Participate in a health-related assessment to establish personal fitness goals     


I-PERSONAL & SOCIAL-SKILLS 

  •    I1- Demonstrate collaborative skills while participating. Giving/accepting constructive feedback. Respectful inclusion of peers.
  •    I2- Demonstrate responsible and ethical behavior while participating in physical activity
  •    I3- Predict how etiquette/safety rules improve game/activity and contribute to productive participation and how environmental modifications can impact safety.

WEIGHT ROOM-CARDIO ROOM-CIRCUIT TRAINING- SUPER SETS



Curriculum Materials may include:


Team Buildr Software Program, Safety Rubric, Expectations Rubric
