Essential Questions:
What are the common elements of a text and how does an author use them to construct a narrative?
Standards/PIs:
-I can explore the author’s use of elements such as setting, plot, and characters and how they work together in a text.
-I can explain the way in which the theme or claim of a text applies to the world, using textual evidence to support the claim.
-I can identify independent and dependent clauses.
-I can learn new words to expand my vocabulary.
Student Assignments:
-Students will review elements of fiction and take notes in class
-Students will complete "Independent & Dependent Clause" Exercises 1-3 on Grammarbytes.com
-Students will choose and read 3 fairytales from Grimm's Fairytale database and complete respective analysis sheets.
-Quiz over Elements of Fiction terms on Wednesday (1A & 3A) / Thursday (1B & 3B)
