Come learn about your student’s classes and meet the teachers. Stop by and see our College and Career Center that students use for assistance in preparing their four-year plan, finding a college or career, or applying for college. Swing into the library to explore the information and resources available to our students.
We are going to try a new format this year in hopes of providing more flexibility for parents. In past years we had parents follow their student’s schedules and used the bells to move parents from class to class. This format provided no flexibility on arrival time and made it necessary for parents to attend the entire Open House in order to have access all teachers. It could also be challenging for parents of more than one student. This year we will try a true “open house” format. Teachers will be available in their classrooms to meet with parents from 6:00 until 7:30. Parents will be free to move about the building and visit teachers without following a set schedule. The guidance office, college and career center, and the library will be open and sharing information throughout the evening as well.
Paper copies of student schedules will still be available in the athletic lobby from 5:30 until 6:30pm, as they have in the past, and will be available in the main office form 6:30 until 7:30pm. I will be in the auditorium at 5:45pm to welcome parents, review the new format, and answer questions. Teachers will be available to meet with parents starting at 6:00pm.
I encourage you to bring your student and to follow his or her schedules as a way to see the building and meet the teachers. We hope to start building a relationship between parents and teachers which we can build upon during parent teacher conferences later in the fall.
