I want to remind you al that we're coming down to the wire this year.  PLEASE check your Infinite Campus grades/assignments for my class.  If you're missing work get going on it!  I have periods 2, 4 and 6 WIDE OPEN this week because my seniors are done.  So if you have availability and want help, EVEN IF IT'S YOUR OUT OF SCHOOL DAYS, you can come see me during that time.  Just send an email to let me know you'll be here.

Please check your schedules on Infinite Campus for when you're assigned to come see me during pride blocks this week.  If you're scheduled for my pride block, you are IN DANGER OF FAILING THIS YEAR!!!!  Everything is on the table---if you want your grade to go from a 94 to a 98, COME SEE ME!  If you want your grade to go from a 27 to a 77, COME SEE ME!!!!

Hey folks, 
This is a blanket statement, but I am trying to reach as many of you as possible.  


There is a large number of my students who are in need of getting work taken care of to earn credit for my class.  Please check your Infinite Campus grades to see where you stand in English.  If you're not passing for the year at this moment, you need to schedule some remediation time for this class--either under my supervision, or on your own--as soon as possible.


The last year has been challenging as we have dealt with covid, so the opportunity for many of you to make up work that is long past due, is an exception to the normal remediation schedule within our school.  If you're nervous, embarrassed, or just don't know where to begin, please know that there is no shame in coming to see me or emailing me to help you figure it out.

Here it is, the one you've been waiting for!  The LAST assignment of the year!!

Make sure you're on page 101 of Shawshank and continue working on the C+C Project.  I will be checking to see that research is complete for the college and career sections.  Maybe we'll get crazy and have a quiz over the reading.

Please read from page 71 (“time continued to pass”) to the middle of page 91 ("And some don't, and never will.") in Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption for the first class back from April vacation.  Continue to chip away at your Thinking About Themes green sheet by jotting down page numbers and/or highlighting examples in the text.


For the CCP, the career stuff SHOULD BE DONE at this point.  For after vacation please get your college research done for the first class after break.  I will check in both career and college research for a formative grade.


ALL OF THE ABOVE IS 60–90 mins of work between now and our first class back from vacation.

Please read chapters 4 and 5 from Into the Wild and make sure the Mapping McCandless sheet is filled out up to this point (this means you should have SIX rows filled in on the grid). Thanks and have a great weekend.

Go play in the snow. Help your parents AND a neighbor shovel some snow. Have some hot chocolate. When your snow clothes dry, get back out again.

After you have played in the snow, you have your work for The Catcher in the Rye to finish up. This work includes: the reading questions (4 sections that will add up to ONE summative), the reading reflections, and your final project for Catcher (playlist, letters, or video).

I would recommend that you spend approximately 30 minutes per day, between now and when your class meets next, working on getting the above assignments wrapped up. Your next class, is actually our last class until February. You're already done with semester one!

If you need any help, send me an email and I will get back to you ASAP.

I received THE call today from Mr. Caron, and I will be out for quarantine on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

All Catcher work should STILL be done for your class meeting. There will be a sub in the room, but I will be hosting a google meet with your class, likely through one of your computers, and we can just link it up to the new TV and go from there. During this google meeting, I am expecting that you'll share out your project to your classmates and me.

If you still have some work to finish, send it my way. I'll be tallying it up in the next couple of days.
